Ready Hands

You’re ready to make a difference in your community.  But how would you like to volunteer? If you prefer short-term, hands-on projects, if you like to work as a team, and if you want to research and choose your volunteer engagement on-line, you’re not alone.  You’re actually part of a national trend.  And that national trend is the bedrock of the Junior League’s new Hands On Baton Rouge community placement.

Through
Hands On Baton Rouge, a program of Volunteer Baton Rouge, Ready Hands committee members register online for wide variety of high-impact volunteer opportunities. Additionally, the Ready Hands committee also develops its own projects that serve the needs of our community while fulfilling the mission of the Junior League.
This past year, Ready Hands committee members completed 15 projects and already have projects planned for fall 2010. Through this project, League members have participated in a variety of activities including assembling lifebooks for children in foster care, preparing brown bag lunches for a Volunteers of America drop-in center, and hosting birthday parties for children at a local shelter.
