President's Message
The Junior League of Baton Rouge has been building a better community for over 80 years. Our membership consists of approximately 2000 intelligent, hard working, dynamic women who give over 47,000 hours of service each year. Out of 293 leagues around the world, we are the 14th largest!
We live by our mission. Developing the potential of women, promoting volunteerism and improving the community are the reasons the League is so exceptional. We are committed to every woman in Junior League of Baton Rouge receiving the training, support and experience she wants.
Junior League helps enhance your gifts, talents and skills to make a difference. We are a book publisher that trains women in sales distribution or marketing, a shopping market that trains women in human resources and promotions, and let’s not forget the Triple Crown that trains women in event planning and management. It’s important to us that we give our members a rewarding experience through training and education, bringing satisfying volunteer experiences and fulfilling needs to give to the community.
Our League’s fundraising also proves to be top notch in the country. Hollydays brings in major dollars and donors, impacting the region to the tune of $5.1 million. For over fifty years, the sales of River Road Recipes has generated over $3 million and our new Kentucky Derby event, Triple Crown, is growing each year. The money raised from our fundraisers supports our community projects.
We are excited about our 15 community projects this year! Many are returning, such as The Little Bookshelf with LSU AgCenter, Pretty in Pink with The Cinderella Project and Patient Activity Days with Our Lady of the Lake Children's Hospital. This year we are debuting four new projects: Circle Time with St. Lillian's Academy, Girls on the Run, Imagination Playground with Knock Knock Children's Museum and Getting Ahead and Going Beyond with Hope Ministries.
You have only to look around Baton Rouge to see the enormous impact made by Junior League since 1932. Just envision life without the Louisiana Arts and Science Museum, Magnolia Mound Kitchen, Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing or the Battered Women’s shelter. These and dozens of other caring organizations are thriving, thanks to the work of Junior League members. Please browse our website to see how you can affect lives and improve the community.
With kindest regards,
Leslie Campbell
