Community Assistance Fund

Our Community Assistance Fund (CAF) assists non-profit agencies with a 501(c)(3) designation in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Livingston, West Baton Rouge, and West Feliciana Parish with specific, short-term monetary needs. The committee chooses projects that meet the guidelines set forth by our bylaws and policies and are focused on helping to fulfill the Junior League vision statement:
Women as Catalysts for Lasting Community Change in the areas of Health, Education and Cultural Development.

Community Assistance Fund grant requests may be made for up to $5,000. The projects funded represent the League’s commitment to our vision; therefore, grants are awarded only in the following areas:

  • Health
  • Education
  • Cultural Development

The 2022-2023 League year grant cycle is the following:

  • 1st CAF Grant Cycle Opens: Monday, July 11, 2022
    Closes: Wednesday, September 21, 2022
    Grantees will be notified by Monday, October 3, 2022
  • 2nd CAF Grant Cycle Opens: Monday, December 19, 2022
    Closes: Wednesday, February, 22, 2023
    Grantees will be notified by Monday, March 12, 2023

All Community Assistance Fund grant checks will be delivered by a representative from the Junior League of Baton Rouge. Community Assistance Fund grant checks will NOT be mailed or picked up from the League Office.

Application Process for a Community Assistance Fund Grant

Step 1: Determine if your organization matches with the grant’s focus area.

Women as catalysts for lasting community change in the areas of health, education and cultural development.

Step 2: Submit Proposal Online

A representative from your organization will need to submit an application for funding online to JLBR by the stated deadline.

  • Please complete all fields on the form.
  • You cannot save data typed into this form.
  • Please print your completed form if you would like a copy for your records.

Please be prepared to upload the following items:

  • Line Item Budget
  • IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter
  • IRS 990 Form
  • IRS W-9 Form
  • Organization’s Board of Directors
  • Annual Board Approved Budget

Step 3: Applicants, who are awarded a CAF grant, return here to submit a Post Grant Evaluation

Restrictions
Restrictions The funds requests may not be: (1) related to religious, political or medical research projects; (2) used for travel budgets; (3) used for renovations in buildings not owned or in long term leases; (4) issued to a non-profit more than once a year, for no more than two consecutive years; (5) issued to an entity receiving funds as an existing Junior League of Baton Rouge project; (6) granted to individuals; (7) more than $5,000.00 (unless approved by the Junior League of Baton Rouge Board of Directors); (8) used to pay salaries or stipends; or (9) for another agency to distribute as a grant.
